Elyas's First Birthday

Last night we stayed up late decorating. We spent all day yesterday preparing for today, that includes Kim baking Elyas a homemade banana cake with cream cheese frosting.

The first thing Elyas noticed when he woke up was his decorations; especially the balloons. Kim played with Elyas until Chris woke up. Then we waited until after his nap to take him to the park for a picnic and some swinging.

At the park we found a picnic table in the shade right next to the playground. We set up the picnic and began to eat, but the wind began to pick up and the next thing we knew Chris was wearing his salad. The funny thing is that since we moved here it has always been warm and sunny, but for Elyas’s birthday it was so blustery.

Elyas had his very first baby-sized ham and cheese sandwich, which he loved, and he also had his first taste of apple strawberry banana sauce.

After we were done eating we pushed Elyas on the swings. He loved it; swinging is one of his favorite things to do.

After pushing Elyas on the swings for some time we went for a drive around Upper Klamath Lake.

The drive was beautiful, but we were all anxious to get home to open his present and to do cake and ice cream. When we made it home Elyas opened his birthday present. We gave him the blocks that Chris had received on his first birthday that his great grandparents had made for him. Elyas loved them; he pulled them out of the box one by one.

When Elyas was done playing with his new blocks we cleaned them up and set up a table for him to experience his first birthday cake. He loved it, it was so cute. He studied it, bit it, pounded on it, and had a lot of fun with it.

Elyas’s first birthday was a success. We all enjoyed our day, and Elyas knew that this was HIS special day because we treated him like king. Happy Birthday to our sweet, precious little bumbles, we love you so much.
