A Rainy Day Hike 4-15-2011

Elyas and I had spent the night at Grandma Suchanski's last night and were invited to spend another night because we all had so much fun. So we decided that I needed to go on a date with Chris so that he didn't feel left out of all the fun.

Chris and I decided to go on a hike together. It was a rainy day, but we didn't care, we love hiking and rain and so we don't mind the two mixed; however I do love a warm, sunny, beautiful day for hiking. We live in Oregon, so we can't be to picky or we'd never be able to go hiking! Not entirely true...but it feels like it sometimes.

Chris and I decided to go to the same spot we went to before for our 1 year anniversary hike and take the longer trail since we had more time. So we did, we got on the correct trail, but somehow ended up on a maintenance trail. So we still haven't hiked the trail we've been wanting to, but it gives us an excuse to go again.

We hiked about 2 miles, it was wet, muddy, and beautiful. At one point Chris went sliding down the trail, he looked like he was snowboarding down the trail. I was afraid that he might go flying off the hill, but he seemed to handle his sliding with grace.

When we got home we cleaned up and went back over to Grandma Suchanski's where we hung out and played with Elyas for a few hours before Chris left us to our slumber party. We had a lot of fun.

The many adventures of Elyas

Elyas and I went to Grandma Suchanski's for the day and had a blast. He loves going and playing with all of the toys and his cousin Kylie and Aunt Tiffy.

He crawled more than two steps for the first time today, infact, he crawled all the way across the room. We were able to get a little bit of him doing this on film.

Our One Year Wedding Anniversary

Today Chris and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary. How exciting! I told Chris that my favorite thing that happened our first year was the birth of our son Elyas, Chris told me that his favorite thing was...well he told me he'd get back to me on that because he had to think about it. I don't blame him. In a year we had so much happen, and we both feel that many good things happened to us.

Our wedding day was the perfect day.
We moved into a bigger home.
We were able to move closer to family.
We had a beautiful baby boy.
Chris was able to apply for graduation.
Chris was accepted into OSU.

I'm sure there are things that I'm missing, but these are just a few that come to mind. I'm sure bad things happened to us too, but really I can't remember, I've had such a great year.

Today we celebrated by going on a hike. We both love the outdoors, and we both love to hike...awesome. We got there a little late though and we were bummed that we had a time limit. We had exactly an hour to hike, so we had to take the short hike. It was still beautiful and fun, but we both have an adventurer in us that wanted to step off the main path into side trails that took us on a longer hike, but out of fear of having our car locked up we stayed on the main trail.

After the hike we had a fun and very yummy dinner at home.

My mom and sister watched Elyas for us today so we just enjoyed every minute that we could until it was time to go get him. When we did Elyas tried to jump out of Uncle Bryan's arms to daddy, it was so cute. He had fun, but he was happy to see us...and visa versa, we had fun, but it was good to see our little guy.

Visiting Great Grandma Ruth

Elyas was able to visit his Great Grandma Ruth today. He had a lot of fun. His favorite things were Ruth's exercise bike and her little movable craft table; he couldn't get enough of them. We were after him quite a bit, what a fast boy!
